Samsung wants to make the smart home smarter - if you have Samsung that is!

Samsung recently announced a range of additions to its groundbreaking SmartThings home automation system, including ‘smarter capabilities’. The latest dashboard screen, Now Plus, is available on selected Samsung TVs wand is programmed to turn on as you approach to display loads of useful info.

NowPlus has a new “quick panel” with accesses shortcuts to control all your Samsung connected devices – it even helps you find those ‘where did I leave it’ smartphones and other gadgets.

Samsung SmartThings has a funky ‘map view’ which shows an interactive map of your home complete with the location of your smart home devices (e.g. washing machines, refrigerators and so on). Maps can be created manually or automatically with the help of a existing floor plan or with a lidar-enabled Samsung device.

Maps have to be generated using the SmartThings app on a smartphone or tablet. But once that’s done, they’ll display on supported Samsung TVs, the screen of the Samsung Family Hub smart fridge and Samsung’s M8 monitors.

The future we thought was just science fiction is getting closer.
